Another quilt that really
caught my eye at the
Arizona Quilter's Guild Show
was
Chain Gang
by Karen Cox
I've seen this quilt pattern before at previous quilt shows,
and it's usually
completed with traditional
needle turn applique.
I was particularly interested in seeing
Karen's variation
using
Digitized embroidered applique.
There is so much that can be done now
with computerized domestic machines.
The digitized technique
really gives this quilt a modern look.
The original
Chain Gang pattern
was designed by Sue Garman
offered as a sampler series
with Quakertown Quilts.
Karen won a 3rd place ribbon
in the
Mixed Technique Large
category.
Traditional blocks are included
in the settings.
Machine quilted by Judy Taylor
Karen wrote:
"I used all different fabrics for my version of this exciting and
challenging quilt. Claudia digitized
the applique for the embroidery module".

Wow....that looks wonderful.
oooh, how pretty! My Honey has said he wants to get me a new sewing machine when we get home again in June. I am redoing the craft room (used to be called the guest room, but I took it over with yarn, etc.) and will LOVE having a new sewing machine with space to use it.
That is a very striking quilt. I love the use of chain blocks in samplers and this setting gives it a new twist.
