Dixie Quilt Guild January Meeting/ Part 1

Yesterday the Dixie Quilt Guild met for our first meeting of 2010. We started off with Show and Tell from our members.

Martha Bateman is our president this year, and our membership is around 200. There are quite a few pictures, but hopefully these might give inspiration for quilts in your future.
John Flynn was recently here as a teacher, and Mary Walthers finished one of his designs.

Nancy Tomer made this quilt for her husband for Christmas. He wanted the quilt's design to be a surprise. We laughed as she explained he didn't even want her to sit next to him on New Years Day during the bowl games as she worked on the binding.

Janie Argyle will be teaching Sunshine and Shadow as a tribute to local artist Blanche Young.

A gift to one member's daughter who loves owls.

Ginny Affleck made this baby quilt in the anticipation of a new grand daughter. Unfortunately the baby needed to be taken early, and is not doing well. Please offer your prayers, along with ours, in behalf of their family.

The puppies on the quilt represent the 5 dogs owned by Ginny's daughter.

A charity quilt made by Carol Buckner.

The next 3 are by a member who loves to make table toppers.

Good use of a mitered corner.

Marti Vidoni made this for her son who loves the mountains and trees.

Tomorrow I will share Part 2. Marilyn Badger was our guest lecturer and she came and shared with us her experience in being asked to be one of the 3 judges for IQA Houston 2009.

Wonderful show and tell! The quilts hanging on the wall looked familiar, but you gave it away in the end. I would love it if Marilyn Badger would be at our guild. She does just beautiful work.
