Those Mesa Ladies/ October

Yesterday was that favorite day of the month
where I had the opportunity to spend the day with
those wonderful Mesa Ladies
We quilt together at the church, visit,
eat wonderful food, and have the best time.
Janet is getting ready for Halloween
with a work in progress
fusible applique
Bench Pillow
I believe the pattern is by KimberBell
 Lori found this baby quilt
she had started 8 years ago
for her grand daughter :)
Time to finish now!
Only the binding needs to be done.
And a new baptism quilt for the same grand daughter
CTR= Choose The Right
 For Show and Tell
Peg brought her
Getting Around To It
that she designed
 Raw edge circles
 Soft Minkee back
Look at the wonderful quilting!
Julie was working on a pink Chevron quilt for a grand daughter
Each month two of the ladies in the group
serve as hosts
This month Julie and Christine provided the most fun Halloween themed day.
As we walked in, one of the tables was decorated with snacks
and door prizes
 How cute is this?
Julie decorated her trifle bowl
Inside was a snack of roasted peanuts and candy corn.
When eaten together, they taste a lot like a Payday candy bar.
And for lunch Julie and Christine treated us to
the most delicious
Halloween Bag Lunches
 Quilty labels
Chicken Salad Croissants
Veggies and Dip
Fruit Cups
Chips
Homemade cookies
and of course
eyeballs and spider rings
Can you see why I feel so spoiled?
Thank you ladies  !!!

Aubrey

Our daughter Aubrey was married last Friday
to the most wonderful man.
We like to call him Kevin Heaven
This is a joyous union
Mr and Mrs Kevin Daly
Because she had a fantastic photographer taking a lot of pictures
I didn't worry about that part of the event,
so I don't have much to share with you today

But, know she was surrounded by
a legion of love and support
with family and friends.
My favorite part (other than the ceremony)
was watching her dance with her dad.
When Mr. Cactus and I were dating many, many years ago,
he used to play the guitar and sing to me
the song "Aubrey" by Bread
As this was part of our falling in love,
we named our first child after the song
During the Father/Daughter dance
the music of Aubrey played in the background
which brought us all to tears.
"I love her name...."

Candy Corn Snack Mix

Tomorrow is a big day for us :)
Our oldest daughter is to be married !!
We have many family members and friends
pouring in from Out of State for the happy event.
My happy happy
is that all 5 of my children will be together.
And of course, I am most happy for
Aubrey and Kevin
who are a perfect match.
I have plenty of food on hand to feed the crowds,
and made this Halloween Snack Mix
that can just sit out in the kitchen for whoever wants a little treat.
I've even left a spoon in the bowl
to make it easier to grab a bite or two.
 Kind of addictive
Candy corn, cereal, and nuts all mixed together with a sweet coating.
The original recipe called for coconut
but I opted to omit because I have family members who are allergic.
Instead I threw in a few cups of Cheerios
and it turned out fine.
 As you can see
half the bowl is gone already.
I think we have a new Halloween favorite.
From start to finish, it took less than a 1/2 hour to assemble.
The original recipe is from
Yummy Healthy Easy
and can be found

Modern Maples Throw Quilt

The last few days have been some very productive
sewing days.
Love it when that happens  :)
I was able to put a top together quite quickly for

Perfect for a little boy, or a little girl
To be honest, I'd like this one for myself  :)

 Fox in Indian headbands
 Teepee's
Polka Dots
I even added a few pieces of Grunge in the mix
We really don't have much of an official "Fall" here in the Phoenix Metro,
(we are just grateful for the cooling temperatures)
but
Modern Maples
makes me feel like we are in the midst.

Close up #2
I believe these unfinished vintage quilt tops are "Country Roads" (86"x73")and "Indian Tomahawk" (80"x61"), feel free to correct me. Very scrappy with 1930s fabrics, all hand stitched, obviously by the same maker is why they have been listed together. Same size. Both are perfectly clean in great condition. Found in vintage shop so unfortunately no other provenance available. Always Free Shipping, but please note these quilt tops will be shipped separately for added security.

Fancy Fox Quilt

I have finished the top of
Fancy Fox
Pattern by

I really enjoyed making this quilt!
Who doesn't love these fancy fox faces?
The pattern is Jelly Roll friendly
I found an old "Nest" jelly roll by Tula Pink
tucked away in a box, and knew it would be perfect for this project.
Cleaning out boxes can feel like Christmas :)
The pattern comes in several sizes
but I decided to make the lap size 50" X 62"
which requires 42 Fox faces
Soon I was chain piecing the sections
and the design wall began filling up fast.
For the background I used the color gray
by American Made Fabrics
My grandson Noah loves to sing the song
What Does The Fox Say? by Ylvis
I sang the lyrics a lot as I sewed
Kind of an addictive tune :)

Your fur is red, so beautiful!
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
WHAT THE FOX SAYS!

Shari's Maple Block

 Shari Butler
is the host this month
for our Bees Knees Quilting Bee
Shari is having us make
a large 12" X 12" Modern Maples block
Shari really made it easy for us.
She cut out each piece,
and mailed us the fabrics.
The block sewed up quick,
and is now ready to be mailed back to her :)
