Tucson Quilters Guild Quilt Show

Yesterday Mr. Cactus and I drove to Tucson
which is only about an hour and a half drive South
from our home in Chandler.
I attended the
Tucson Quilters Guild Quilt Show
while he did some hiking in the foothills.
This was my first time to attend the Tucson Show and I was
impressed with the talent and workmanship from the guild members.
Grand Finale
by Tami Graeber
Quilted by Judi Doud
was among my favorite quilts
on display.
 Tami wrote
"Main goal: A quilt with a wow factor
 250+ piece star blocks
 Pattern source: 4 blocks from
Kathy Nokajimi's
Sunshine Rose Garden
 Pattern was to be 9 stars;
I changed it up by adding the center block,
 four corners,
 and my own floral applique,
 thread painting
and bling."
I'd say mission accomplished!
*Tami left a comment and some additional information about her quilt:
OMG, WHAT a surprise to see MY OWN QUILT (Grand Finale) featured on your blog and discovered by my friend!
Thank you all for the compliments!
To answer a question posted: The category was: First prize, Large 2 person ( myself and my longarm quilter) quilt with equal proportions of applique and piecing.
The hardest part of the quilt which took me the longest time was choosing the color! I wanted something different....something you don't see too often in a quilt and the Wall Street Journal announced that the color of the year for 2012 was Orange! Most people comment on that, they aren't orange lovers but love the quilt, one never knows!
Thanks again! Tami Graeber, Tucson, AZ and Klamath Falls, OR.
