Hands All Around Quilt

While attending our Nimble Thimbles Guild meeting the other night, Darlene Reid brought a quilt she had made from a 1999 guild exchange.
I wanted to share pictures with you, in case you might be looking for a guild idea.

All Hands Around was a friendship exchange.

Each member was asked to go home and trace their hand on a piece of fabric backed with fusible interfacing.
A wonderful way to remember the guild members we have shared so much with.

This concept could also be applied for a memory quilt, or as part of a family reunion.

I loved the sayings that Darlene incorporated though out the quilt.
"The woman who works with her HANDS only is a laborer.
The woman who works with her HANDS and head is a craftswoman.
The woman who works with her HANDS, her head, and her heart is an artist."

" I pray that risen from the dead
I may in glory stand
A crown perhaps upon my head
And a needle in my HAND."

Notice that Darlene used a Hands All Around quilt block pattern for the nuetral background.
