Last night the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild held their annual Small Quilt Auction.
This is a great idea for any of you looking for a fund raiser for your guild.
The guild has around 70 members. Each member was asked to donate one or more small quilts or projects for the auction.
There was a great variety of purses, needle cases, and pillows in addition to the quilts.
Since I am new to the group, I am still learning names.
I think the auctioneer's name was Patty(?) and she did a great job driving prices up and getting the audience to bid against each other.
Quilters can be very competitive!
Neighbors, friends and the community were invited to the auction, and there was a good turn out.
Posters were displayed previously in local quilt stores as advertisement.
Each person was given a bidder's paddle as they entered the room.
The donations were well made and impressive.
Just a few examples from this generous and talented group.
Oh yes, and there is my Floribunda In Red being auctioned off.
The grand finale was the donation of this beautiful vintage Wedding Ring quilt that had been pieced and hand quilted by a member who had recently passed away.
Her family had generously donated back to the guild, in memoriam of their dear mother.
I'm not sure the Nimble Thimbles want me to announce how much they earned with this auction, but let me at least say it was well over $1,000 that will now be put back into activities like Quilt Camp and the Christmas party.
As a non-profit group, it's nice to see the funds going directly back to the quilters who made this evening possible.
Plus, we shared in a lot of laughter and fun.

"There's a quilt guild (Naperville, IL?) that does an auction every year - and they also have a tea or dessert thing that goes with it - brings in lots of "outsiders" - not just guild members! They make a fortune every year! Thanks for sharing! Hope you like your new guild - it must be really hard to leave behind your other bees and guild!
How fun!! Did your cute quilt get a good price?? Inquiring minds want to know!! LOL!! Kris
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
What a fun activity. Your Florabunda is a great addition to the auction.
