I've always been a big fan of searching out the local libraries in my area. So much to see and read.
The other day I came across a series of DVD's Lark Rise To Candleford.
If you love well done 19th Century BBC drama's like the original Pride and Prejudice (with Colin Firth) or the Elizabeth Gaskell Collection (my favorite), you are in for a treat.
Set in the small Oxfordshire hamlet of Lark Rise, and the wealthier nearby town of Candleford, the townspeople show depth of character mixed with twists of laugh out loud humor.
Each episode addresses a value such as trust or faith, with the townspeople seeing each other through the best and worst of times.
Well written, endearing characters, with images of stunning English countryside.
I know the series has been shown on T.V. but you can also find boxed sets HERE on Amazon.com
Lark Rise To Candleford has become lately, as Miss Lane would say "My one little weakness".

My local PBS station has this on as a series every weekday. I really enjoy watching while having my lunch.
Love, love, love Lark Rise to Candleford. I am looking forward to the next season, which I understand is already airing on BBC in the UK. Hopefully it will be on PBS soon!
Sounds wonderful, will look for it.
This is a great series. Waiting eagerly for the next season to come on TV .... Hoping it will be Autumn like the past ones. Would certainly recommend it to anyone, didn't realise it had gone over to the US. Enjoy x
Over here it's on every Wed. afternoon and I love it. I even borrowed her book from the library. I love Brendan Coyle who plays Robert Timmins. He also played John Bates in the Masterpiece Theatre production of Downton Abbey - an excellent British show too.
I just saw an episode of this on PBS and added the whole series to my Netflix queue. Can't wait to see it from start to end.
Thanks Nedra--I can always trust your judgement on movies. I miss our scrapbook retreats and hours of visiting and sharing lifes challenges and joys. I think you are amazing Nedra and so enjoyed our years of friendship.
I'm having fun making a Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt. When I finish I'll send you a picture. Have a great day.
