Criss Cross Finished

Hallelujah!
Hurrah!
Whew!
Shouts of joy coming from my little part of the world.
Criss Cross is now finished.
Or as my German ancestors would say Oberflychenbehandlung!

When I pulled this UFO out of the bin a few weeks ago I thought I would quickly have Criss Cross all put together in no time.
It was a little more complicated than that.
At 96" X 96" even laying the quilt over the living room couch did not capture the entire piece for a picture.

But, oh how I love this wonderful quilt designed by Sandy Klop of American Jane Patterns.

Lots and lots of little tiny 1-inch brown and muslin squares.
All worth it to create such a beautiful Irish chain variation.

The 16 blocks measure at 22- inches.
A wonderful way to use up scraps.

The patterns calls for 32 assorted 1/4th yard cuts.

At one point I considered deviating from the written pattern by adding a more simple border.

Now I'm grateful I took the extra time to implement the 268 on point squares around the edge.

They really do add that special touch and make the quilt complete.

To gain a perspective in size, I had Mr. Cactus and my daughter Aubrey stand on the couch and hold Criss Cross up as high as they could for a photo shoot.

This is one big quilt.

I just have to say it one more time because the length of the word is so appropriate for Criss Cross

(plus it makes me laugh)

oberflychenbehandlung!

How absolutely wonderful. I am so glad you finished this. You did an amazing job - even taking the extra time to match up all those border black and white squares. Now, on to getting it quilted and then the next project.

Stunning!!! (Uh... if I could say that German word, I'd want to keep saying it, too!)

You're right - that border is perfect and essential. It wouldn't be the same without it.

Good job!!!!
