Tiled Blooms Quilt Block

For the latest Bees Knees Quilting Bee block
I made
Tiled Blooms
for Sinta Borland (Pink Pincushion)
Sinta made this so easy for us.
She mailed most of the sections Pre-cut.
All we had to do was
cut the petals,
iron on fusible
sew applique
and then
assemble the block.
This is what Tiled Blooms will look like once it's all put together.

Scrappy Crossroads Quilt

It's beautiful here in the winter in Arizona  :)
Even with a little cloud cover outside today
it's still warm and inviting.
I just finished
Scrappy Crossroads
 Pattern with Free Tutorial
by my friend Lori Holt
of Bee In My Bonnet
can be found
A great way to use up scraps!
I knew I saved those little itty bits of leftovers for a reason.
 A total of
1440
2 1/2 inch scrappy squares
were used in this project
For the X part of the block
I used
American Made Brand Cotton
Dark Turquoise
It's the first time I have used this solid
and it was wonderful to work with  !
High thread count and solid to the touch.
Hey, I remember some of these fabrics
from quilts I made long ago  :)
 And these too!
A trip down memory lane.
 The actual block
measures 16 1/2 inches unfinished
You can make the quilt any size you desire.
I opted to make it Twin Size
by putting
5 rows across
and
6 rows down.
I even used some of Lori's fabrics in the scraps
Remember her first fabric line Sew Cherry?
And Millie's Closet ?
Thank you Lori for such a great Tutorial  !!
I feel like I now have a Free Quilt
I'm even considering being brave and
trying to quilt this one myself.
We'll see.

Modern Maples Throw Quilt

The last few days have been some very productive
sewing days.
Love it when that happens  :)
I was able to put a top together quite quickly for
Modern Maples Throw Quilt
59" X 70"
Designed by Amanda Woodward-Jennings
for Lark Crafts
Free PDF pattern can be downloaded

I made this quilt as a store sample for
a quilt store in Mesa, Arizona
It's also available as a kit.
Contact Mad B's
if you would like to purchase one
 Love this fabric line
Let's Go!
by Camelot Fabrics
Perfect for a little boy, or a little girl
To be honest, I'd like this one for myself  :)
 Fox
Fox in canoes
(*I've kind of had a Fox thing going lately)
 Fox in Indian headbands
 Teepee's
Polka Dots
I even added a few pieces of Grunge in the mix
We really don't have much of an official "Fall" here in the Phoenix Metro,
(we are just grateful for the cooling temperatures)
but
Modern Maples
makes me feel like we are in the midst.

Fancy Fox Quilt

I have finished the top of
Fancy Fox
Pattern by

I really enjoyed making this quilt!
Who doesn't love these fancy fox faces?
The pattern is Jelly Roll friendly
I found an old "Nest" jelly roll by Tula Pink
tucked away in a box, and knew it would be perfect for this project.
Cleaning out boxes can feel like Christmas :)
The pattern comes in several sizes
but I decided to make the lap size 50" X 62"
which requires 42 Fox faces
Soon I was chain piecing the sections
and the design wall began filling up fast.
For the background I used the color gray
by American Made Fabrics
My grandson Noah loves to sing the song
What Does The Fox Say? by Ylvis
I sang the lyrics a lot as I sewed
Kind of an addictive tune :)

Your fur is red, so beautiful!
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
WHAT THE FOX SAYS!

Ticket Strips Halloween Quilt

 My friend Vicki

The pattern uses
3 Mr. Chillingsworth panels from Andover Fabrics
It's really fun to see the creative use of these panels.

Tone It Down Quilt

 Months ago in the
February 2014 Edition of American Patchwork and Quilting
I saw Lissa Alexander's (Moda Lissa)
Tone It Down Quilt pattern
and knew I wanted to make it.
And then when I saw various versions and fabric combinations
contributed by 10 top designers
for a Quilt Along
I knew I had to play right away, too!
I started collecting fat quarters of
Low Volume and Text Prints for backgrounds
to make a real scrappy look.
I'm so happy with the result :)
My
Tone It  Down Quilt
is now finished !
 As you can see,
each  block is quite scrappy.
I followed Lissa's original color pallet of using
aqua, orange, green, yellow and navy
with red as the predominant for the chains
The 15 inch blocks were fun to make,
 and actually were much easier
than the over all quilt appears.
Lissa gives good instructions in the magazine.
It was fun to mix the colors up a bit.
20 blocks total
Add in 9-Patch Corner Stones along with sashings
and the final quilt measures a large
75 1/2" X 93 1/2"
(Twin size with an 18 inch drop)
Now, it's off to the quilter :)
