Those Mesa Ladies/ October

Yesterday was that favorite day of the month
where I had the opportunity to spend the day with
those wonderful Mesa Ladies
We quilt together at the church, visit,
eat wonderful food, and have the best time.
Janet is getting ready for Halloween
with a work in progress
fusible applique
Bench Pillow
I believe the pattern is by KimberBell
 Lori found this baby quilt
she had started 8 years ago
for her grand daughter :)
Time to finish now!
Only the binding needs to be done.
And a new baptism quilt for the same grand daughter
CTR= Choose The Right
 For Show and Tell
Peg brought her
Getting Around To It
that she designed
 Raw edge circles
 Soft Minkee back
Look at the wonderful quilting!
Julie was working on a pink Chevron quilt for a grand daughter
Each month two of the ladies in the group
serve as hosts
This month Julie and Christine provided the most fun Halloween themed day.
As we walked in, one of the tables was decorated with snacks
and door prizes
 How cute is this?
Julie decorated her trifle bowl
Inside was a snack of roasted peanuts and candy corn.
When eaten together, they taste a lot like a Payday candy bar.
And for lunch Julie and Christine treated us to
the most delicious
Halloween Bag Lunches
 Quilty labels
Chicken Salad Croissants
Veggies and Dip
Fruit Cups
Chips
Homemade cookies
and of course
eyeballs and spider rings
Can you see why I feel so spoiled?
Thank you ladies  !!!

Shari's Maple Block

 Shari Butler
is the host this month
for our Bees Knees Quilting Bee
Shari is having us make
a large 12" X 12" Modern Maples block
Shari really made it easy for us.
She cut out each piece,
and mailed us the fabrics.
The block sewed up quick,
and is now ready to be mailed back to her :)
Love being a member of the
Bees Knees

Those Mesa Ladies September

Wednesday was my favorite day of the month
as I met with
Those Wonderful Mesa Ladies
for our September meeting.
Jamie's latest finish.
The ladies always bring the cutest
Show and Tell !
 Love her border fabric
The always beautiful
Christine Cook
You may know her as cc.quilts on Instagram
Christine is expecting a baby boy #4
in the next few months
and brought along this one to finish binding.
The backing is a soft navy polka dot minkee
Many of us are grandmothers making quilts for our grandchildren.
Steph brought two baby quilts to bind.
 Left Over Tater Tots
cute name!
 Love her printed labels
 For The Love of Aqua
Also made from leftover scraps.
Love love love the blue against the crisp white.
And especially love her creative border
Vicki and Janet
treated us to the most amazing gourmet lunch.
These ladies can cook!
We meet at the church
where everything needs to be brought in
 and yet the ladies decorate
as if they were hosting at home.
Even though we are not known for rain in Arizona,
the umbrella represented our recent
 Record Breaking Downpour
that made National News :)

Gold Fish Crackers Quilt Blocks

I've had a very productive few days
in getting caught up making my
Bees Knees Blocks
For the month of September
Melissa Corry  (Happy Quilting)
asked us to make any kind of quilt block
with a Camping/ Outdoor Theme
She sent us the cutest fabrics
from the Smoors Love Collection
by Cosmo Cricket
 I opted to make
Gold Fish Crackers
12 1/2 " X 12 1/2" Unfinished
from a
Free Tutorial offered by the
Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild
I even added in a few of my own fabrics
for the backgrounds
with one in blue
to give it that fishy water look :)
I hope Melissa likes my choice
because these were so fun to make,
she is not just getting one block...
but a School of Fish !!
I'd love to make a quilt out of these blocks myself.
I don't have any fisherman in my life
but I do love to look at Aquariums :)
The Emerald Coast Guild even gives
a possible layout suggestion.

Those Mesa Ladies/ August

Yesterday was my favorite day of the month
A day to quilt
with
Those Mesa Ladies
Amanda brought her latest Work In Progress
This month we met in the cultural hall of the church
while electrical work was being done
through out the building.
We each bring our own projects to work on.
Most bring
Show and Tell
Peg just got her Block of The Month quilt
back from the quilter.
Right away she threw it into the washer and dryer
making it nice and soft and cuddly.
Peg also just finished her
Quilty Fun Sampler
designed by Lori Holt/ Bee In My Bonnet
The back is as cute as the front.
Christine worked on binding her latest.
The back is a soft Minky
Peg and Christine
I feel so honored to be part of this Mesa Quilt group.
The ladies are very generous and giving.
Peg brought us each a gift
of homemade
"Blessing Bread"

 The message was so sweet
that it brought tears to our eyes.
We all have our challenges
and could use an extra Blessing.
A lot more than quilting
goes on when we meet together.
 Each year on this day
As a family tradition,
Peg makes bread in honor of her mother's birthday.
A gift to offer
comfort, peace, love and hope
to those who receive it.
Thank you Peg for always knowing how to
be a friend.
And, as always
the luncheon was absolutely delicious.
Steph and Karen
provided
Hawaiian sliders * recipe HERE
Veggies and Dip
Watermelon
Homemade Salsa and Chips
Carmelitas (dessert)
and Lemonade.
The 11 (yes 11!) Electricians in the building came by
and mentioned how good the kitchen smelled.
Stephanie in her generosity
fed them all Hawaiian Sliders.
Can you see why I admire these ladies so much?
