The Farmer's Wife Quilt Along

I couldn't resist any longer!

Like so many of you, I have jumped on the bandwagon and joined the Farmer's Wife Quilt Along.
My friend Lori Holt (Bee In My Bonnet) encouraged me to join her, and once I saw her fabulous tutorials, I was a goner, hook, line and sinker.

Many thanks to Amanda and Angela for starting this Quilt Along!

The blocks are taken from the book The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird.
Amazon.com offers a really good discount.

One of my greatest excitements in joining TFW is learing how to draft patterns from Lori.
I confess, in all my years of quilting, this is a skill I've never developed.
With Lori's turorials, she makes it so simple and easily understood.
I ran right out and got the little notebook and graph paper she recommended.
The only thing that would make this more fun is if we could sit by each other and sew.
Working with her online is the next best thing.

I'm a few weeks late in joining, so there will be some catching up to do.
Yesterday I completed 5 blocks.

Another great motivation for moving this project to the top of the "to-do" list is that it gives me an opportunity to pull from my scrap pile (#1 summer goal).
I haven't picked a color scheme.
It will just be all scrappy.

Oh my, these are addictive.

you are making fast progress. I must admit I have not touched mine in several weeks while I finish up quilting on the big quilt - I will get back to this one, one day!

Oh Nedra--you are a step or two ahead of me. I bought the book, and I just love Lori's tutorials on her blog. I just need to get going. Love the scrappy look. BTW, Lori is a guest at our new quilt store in Logan, My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe. She will be there Monday morning and I got off work to go and see her. I'm excited.

Just wonderful. I sit and admire the quilting you do. I have my knit and crochet projects going here that I can pick up and take with me when we leave town. I just love looking at your quilts, though.

I haven't joined in making the FW blocks but I've been avidly watching everyone else. I agree with you about Lori's tutorials. I've learned SO much. I really think I could resize a block now - and I've often wondered how that would be done!
