Kaffe Snowball Quilt

One of the most wonderful things about the quilt blogging world is that distance is no barrier in the sharing of ideas.
Cathy (Cabbage Quilts) of Australia loves Kaffe fabrics.
(me too!)
I love following Cathy's blog. She is a very talented quilter with such an eye for color and design. I have learned a lot from her.
Make sure to run over and see her amazing applique.

Cathy's latest project is this work in progress of a Kaffe Snowball.
She said "In almost every Kaffe Fassett book (yes, I own them all) there is a variation on the snowball quilt. I have been admiring Kaffe's snowball quilts for so long I thought it was time I made one for myself. "
You can read more about Cathy's quilt here.

A few years ago I made a Kaffe snowball quilt, also.
It now hangs in our Master bedroom.

I made mine in oranges, browns and earth tone to match the colors of the Southern Utah desert in which we live.

Because of the simplicity of the design, I even did my own quilting (which I rarely do).
Love those Kaffe's.

Hi Nedra...
Don't you just love snowball quilts? It's a pattern that really shows off the fabric that you love. I made one with 1930's.
I think yours is beautiful and it does really look like the gorgeous colors of Southern Utah....

It is beautiful. I love snowballs, too. It is an easy method and one that transforms a block because there are so many ways to use that method. I use it alot. But a complete snowball quilt is fun fun to make. I have one with all feedsacks. It really does show off fabric to it's best. This one is beautiful.

Nedra thank you so much for your beautiful comments, my snowball quilt is slowly coming together...but yours is incredible! Oh yes, like you I adore Kaffes and these colours together are beautiful, I love that you were inspired by the desert you live in for the quilt. So lovely to see such a gorgeous snowball quilt, how wonderful to go to sleep underneath this one each night! xo

I have a Kaffe kit for a snowball that I'm dying to get too. Cathy makes terrific quilts and has such a good eye for colour. I love the colours you've chosen too, it's wonderful.

I just finished a Kaffe snowball and now I'm wondering how to quilt it....it's not huge so I was going to machine quilt it myself instead of sending it out. I'd love to hand quilt it but can't do that any more unfortunately. How are you going to quilt yours.
