Today was our 2nd and last day for our Dixie Quilt Guild Show, at the Dixie Convention Center in St. George, Utah. From my perspective it was a wonderful success. For a guild with around 200 women, I was very impressed with the professional level of the show.
Our Featured Quilter was Pat Peters, or current Guild President.
Pat's specialty is applique. She's been quilting since 1972, when she took her first class in California.
We had a large vendors mall, with 35 booths.
Pat Peters also won Best of Show.
Pat is a fellow Dixie Diva and I've been documenting her work on this quilt this last year as we met together for meetings.
Jan Kalian, another fellow Dixie Diva won Judges Choice.
I have never entered a quilt to be judged before, but my friends talked me into entering this show. And I actually won a 2nd place ribbon for my "4th of July in St. George".
I'm still in shock. Wow.
This is Ricci's 4th of July quilt.
We hung over 250 quilts, each one a work of art. I hardly knew where to start taking pictures.
Here are just a few representations from the show.
Here are 3 quilts from our Dixie Diva Block Exchange.
This one was made by Margaret Miller, who was Chairman of our Show.
I loved the quilting done on this quilt.
Believe it or not, but this one is done with all hexagons.
This one was done by my friend Ginny Afleck.
Our guild challenged us to make a project made out of a pink fat quarter. We had over 40 participants who accepted the challenge.
I liked this one the best of the Challenge quilts.
These pictures do not even begin to represent the number of quilts at the show. It would take a book to document them all.
Again, another big thank you to Margaret and Bev who were the Chairmen. I can't even imagine the number of volunteer man hours they put into this event. Every detail was taken care of and they did an amazing job!

What a wonderful show! So glad you entered your 4th of July. As you know I have an affinity for yours and your friends. I just finished Judy Niemeyer's class yesterday and I loved it!! Learned a lot of new things. A definite benefit to taking a class. Hopefully you will see my 4th of July soon as well as my class quilt!

I want to tell all your viewers in 'blog land' that I've seen this quilt up close and personal and it looks like stained glass and is even more beautiful than it looks photographed.

And. I would never bow to a human being. But I think if I ever met pat peters.. I would have to kiss her hand or something! I don't think I have ever seen such skill anywhere else. I wish I lived closer to her.
