Quilters Coop

On our drive to San Diego, I suggested to Mr. Cactus that I would enjoy stopping at a quilt shop along the way.

One of my favorite shops in Southern California is Quilters Coop in the heart of Old Town Temecula.
Have you ever noticed the reaction when a man walks into a quilt shop? Everyone seems to stop what they are doing and look your way.
I decided this probably wasn't the best time to ask him to hold my purse while I looked at fabric.

Fortunately, Mr. Cactus was a good sport and even chatted with the friendly staff.
He asked for directions to the "guys room with the large screen TV".

Every quilt store needs a motto.

Cute displays with fun items.

I loved the Pink stove in the middle of the room, complete with vintage kitchen fabrics.

I know my friends Lori and Nanette would love this teapot cozy.

Quilters Coop also has a great selection of Civil War and Antique patterns.
It was only fair after waiting for me, that we stop at a place that Mr. Cactus wanted to see.

Torrey Pines Golf Course, overlooks the Pacific ocean in San Diego and was the site of the 2008 U.S. Open.
Mr. Cactus was glued to the TV as Tiger Woods took the cup that year.

Nedra ~ What a lovely shop! I love how they have it decorated.
How fun for you and Mr Cactus to go on a little weekend getaway. That is the perfect thing to do this time of year. I can just see him holding that purse... LOL! Too sweet!
Hope you bought something beautiful while you were there!

How fun. If you look on that vintage stove (to die for) you'll see projects made with the RJR fabric I used for spring market. Funny, I haven't seen a lot of it around. Looks like a great store.

I am sure the reaction to Mr. Cactus in a quilting store HAS to be close to the reaction to My Honey in a yarn store. My Honey, a large Viking-type bearded handsome seaman (who doesn't spend recklessly, has no tattoos, and doesn't drink heavily) with a native Norwegian accent, is very kind to help me search out yarns, needles, and hooks in stores around the world. Of course, I support his woodworking and other interests so it's a pretty even deal. ;)

Love your sense of humor! Great post.

Hugs,
Lois

It was so fun to see that Quilt Shop that I shop and sew at featured on your blog today. We have a lot of fun at the store, but I have fun visiting your shops in St. George. In fact it was fun to read your blog a year or so ago about the hike you took to Castle Rock. My friends and I went on that walk 2 Springs in a row now. You seem to have such a wonderful group of quilting friends who seem to be very fun and also full of talent. I'm glad you were able to see the Temple in all of it's glory and not with all the scaffolding and plastic covering the windows during some major repair work. Love reading your blog

Glad to see you are able to check out some of the So. Cal. quilt shops. Sounds like you two are having fun. Sorry our weather has turned so unseasonably hot. Hope you are finding a place to stay cool and enjoying your getaway!

What a guy, I have one of those too but I daren't ask him to hold the purse even though he would. The shop has some lovely displays, they need to do that at my locals.
