You have to love it.
On the last day of school, two elementary school children and a custodian were stung by a bee.
- No serious injuries were reported.
- There were no allergic reactions.
- They were stung only once.
- They were not stung by Africanized Bees.
I am also happy to report that the fire department arrived to make sure all was OK. A bee keeper was also called in to make sure any lingering bees were removed from the area. The custodian went right back to work. The children's parents were called, and the students were able to go home "in good shape".
Mr. Cactus and I love reading our local paper. We often find the news refreshing.
To quote Mr. Cactus "This headline story is great! Terrible things are not happening here. At least for today."

I love it! I grew up in a town that size and the newspaper carried only thing that were of purely local interest. I miss it.
I thought of you this morning. There was a story on the news that bees had swarmed the NY Stock Exchange of all places. No one has ever heard of such a strange this. It's at the tip of Manhattan and there are, I promise you, no bee hives anywhere near there. I wish they'd come out here to the island where we need them for our fruit trees.

Our 'town' newspapers are like that too, makes you appreciate small towns.

Just love it - I grew up in a small town... they even used to say who got speeding tickets because there wasn't anything else.

Really hilarious. It is a sign of our times I think too. Can you imagine anyone making anything of a bee sting 40 years ago? No. You know we have a beehive in our back yard. The bees swarm the flowers and are so busy in the summer that none of us have gotten stung yet! I love bees.
A few years ago, the headline in our paper was, "The weed are growing." Isn't that great!!!
