Panquitch Quilt Walk

Every year during the 3rd week of June, the small town of Panquitch, Utah becomes transformed.
Quilts line the street and showcase in most store front windows.

Panquitch Quilt Walk is a 4-day town event, with a Quilt Show, classes, vendors mall, art show, dinner theatre, and chocolate fest as just part of the events.

My friend Claudia Crump started the Quilt Walk 13 years ago, and has been a huge influence in promoting quilting throughout the state of Utah.
Claudia is also one of the most beautiful people (inside and out) that I have ever met. To know Claudia is to love her.

When Quilt Walk started 13 years ago, 35 women signed up for classes.
Now the event is well known throughout the western United States.
To honor Claudia and the work she has done over the years, she was presented with a quilt made by her staff.

I taught a class for Quilt Walk this year. My friend Lucille went with me to keep me company.
Here we are shopping in the Texture Magic booth run by Valerie Burton

Valerie has designed the cutest cupcake pincushions made out of Texture Magic. The kits can be ordered on Valerie's web site HERE.

One of the things I love about coming to Quilt Walk is being able to meet up with friends.
I was able to see my good friend Nanette (Freda's Hive) who happened to be teaching in the same classroom right before me. So fun to visit and get caught up.
I was also able to meet Emily (Ems Scrapbag), who was also there as a teacher. Isn't it fun to actually put a face with a name with our wonderful quilt blogging friends?

And I was able to have lunch with my dear friend Bonnie Miles.
Bonnie is one of the original teachers when Quilt Walk began, and comes back every year to teach. This is her "Funky Diamonds" quilt from a class she is teaching this year.

During the noon trunk show yesterday, they started with Show and Tell. People brought quilts that had been made in classes from years past.
These are just a few.

Virgina Olsen was the Features Guest for the Trunk Show.
She makes most of her quilts in a month or two, and they are hand quilted.
We have some amazing talent in Southern Utah.
This is a small representation of the quilts she shared.

The quilts are lovely. I loved teaching at the Quilt Walk. I loved Claudia. I found her such a sweet and kind person and so wanting to make everyone happy, like you! It is no wonder you are friends. I even got an email thanking me for teaching, already. I couldn't believe she had a time to catch her breath. Claudia really made me feel like I want to come back again and again.

Hey Nedra - Did you know that I took Emily Bailey to her very first quilt guild meeting years ago? We used to be neighbors! She's sure come a long way! I think I attended Panguitch the first or second year it was held - the dinner theater was my favorite part of the weekend - oh - and the historic home tour - do they still do that?
