Little finger prints dot the windows that go from floor to ceiling at the back of our house, and I can barely bring myself to wash them off.
Isn't that silly?
On the 2 hour trips to Lake Powell to pick the grandbabies up, and then deliver them back to their parents, I made a small attempt to crochet.
The free tutorial for the potholders from Meet Me At Mikes was just too tempting to resist.
I had a little trouble with some of the areas where I needed to add a new color, and will be ripping out a few for a redo. But, I don't mind. This is a learning experience for me; an attempt to learn how to crochet.
Even with the mistakes, I'm having fun. This will be a great project to take on summer road trips.
Another reason I want to learn to crochet is because of the beautiful colors of yarn on the market.
Look at these colors!
I felt like a kid in a candy store when I tried to select only a few skeins of yarn.
I wanted them all.
Seeing the wonderful crochet projects many of you show on your blogs keep tempting me further. This Internet experience of sharing is so amazing. I can find so many free video's and tutorials to help me learn.
Today I meet with my church sewing group, and I will be taking my yarn. Lucille will be there and she is an expert knitter/ crocheter, who taught classes for years. She is always so generous with her time in helping others, that I know she will talk me through a few parts.
I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Nice job Nedra! Your colors remind me of the Babette afghan my daughter made last summer. I'm still using up leftovers from that project!
Do you get emails from Crochet magazine? If not, you might want to look them up and add your name to their mailing list. They have wonderful tidbits of info on all sorts of crochet things.

If you can get into that page, you'll find a great little tutorial on how to join rounds invisibly. I'm going to try it out myself and probably do a tutorial on it for my readers too!
Keep those fingerprints. Never know how long it will be before they can be replaced...then they will be higher up anyway!

my grandchildren live 13 hours from me so when I get to see them I don't want to clean away the memories either! Those that have grandchildren that they see every day are lucky - but maybe only seeing them occasionally gives us and them more memories to always remember if you know what I mean - more special?

Isn't it amazing what inspiration we get from the blogging community? Those are great and will make fabulous road trip projects.
Little fingerprints everywhere??? They're not nearly as dreadful to look at when you are a grandma, is it?
I wouldn't wash them off either...not yet anyway.
