A Day at Zion National Park

If you had one day to show a guest the wonders of Southern Utah, what would you pick?
My choice was Zion National Park, which I consider one of the most spectacular places on Earth.

St. George is a gateway town to Zion, located just 40 miles from the Main entrance.
The rock formations are majestic!

I've been to Zion many times, but being with Pam Holland made me look at the colors and lines of our surroundings with new eyes.

I followed Pam, who is an experienced photographer, with my camera and watched how she took pictures.
I realized that I usually take a picture that shows a large area.

Pam sees a quilt in every environment, and often takes pictures of small objects that show texture, color and movement.

Detailed pictures of the bark on trees...
...and pointed out the quilting lines she could see on mountains such as Checkerboard Mesa.

I am learning to see quilt possibilities in everyday things.

My vision has changed after being schooled by Pam's artistic lessons.

Mr. Cactus was the best tour guide, and we had the most lovely day.

Wow, thanks for sharing some of Pam's tips with us Nedra, I'm always on the lookout for hints to becoming a better photographer! It's so lovely to see parts of America through your eyes, and Pams! So glad you girls are having a wonderful time xo

I will have to look at things differently when taking photos I think. Sounds like you are having a good time.

Ooo, that's so pretty and makes me sad we missed it last year on our trip. We had reservations at Zion but were getting frazzled so headed back home. I know it's been fun with Pam..I took a class with her in Houston 3 or 4 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed her.
