Church Quilt Day/ May

After taking April off, our church group met for May.
I always love seeing the new projects everyone is working on.
Patti has been working on an applique pattern by Jillily Designs.
This is a free pattern that Jill gives out with her Meet Me In The Meadow fabric line. See details on her blog post 8/17/2009.

Patti's Book of Mormon quilt is coming along, too. She is working on the embroidery on some of the blocks.
*This is a Block of the Month pattern from Lazy Daisy Cottage, a local quilt store here in St. George.

Ginny is working on a very intricate applique.
A Country Journal designed by Maggie Walker. The center block alone has 325 pieces. Yeeeoowser!
This is what the final quilt will look like.

Ginny had a great applique technique I want to share with you.
She drew the design on a piece of light weight interfacing, and then sewed the interfacing to the bottom of the block.
To set the applique pieces in the right place, she flips up the interfacing, laying it flat over the design.

It's hard to see by pictures, but can you see the design underneath?
I thought this was a great idea when you have so many small, little pieces.

Doris worked away on knitting washcloths.

One of our ladies brought her computer, and programed embroidery designs into her machine.
How cool is that?

Ramona brought a quilt she is finishing up for a grand daughter.

Romona was also working on All Dressed Up designed by Nanette Merrill of Freda's Hive.
When I told her that Nanette is one of my good friends, Ramona ooohed and aaahed and asked if I'd introduce her sometime. Of course!
On your next trip down to St. George Nanette, we have a date.
Ramona also had another wonderful quilt she has made. I'll show you that one tomorrow because it deserves a post all on it's own.

What a fun day! All different projects, but equally gorgeous! Hmmm... Nanette is doing meet and greets! Would love to be there to meet her too, but it would be extra great because you would be there as well.
