Aggies In Bud

Pam Holland's Aggies In Bud is another favorite of mine. She teaches this as one of her class offerings. See Images From The Imagination on Pam's web page.

Pam says this is a class to "bring out your creative spirit". The background is hand dyed, and then students design a flower quilt. She shows the steps of blending colors, and finishes with "creative quilting method".

Several mediums are used. Dyers muslin has been incorporated to add texture.

Pam wrote "Having taken a lot of photos, this quilt represents the bud of the agapanthus, I've also tried to represent the color and texture of the plant as the bud appears."
Usually Pam does not like to do a series in quilts, but because the Agapanthus is her favorite plant, she has worked up several versions.

I love the additions of embroidery threads here and there.

This quilt also makes me think of Pam because she likes to wear a lot of orange, with lime green as an accent. Now when I see these colors together, I will always think fondly of her.
