Strawberry Freezer Jam

It's that time of year when I try and think of a little gift I can give my neighbors for Christmas.
This year part of their gift will include Strawberry Freezer Jam.
I remember the first time I tasted freezer jam was when I went to dinner at Mr. Cactus' house when we were dating. The flavors were so amazingly different than store bought jams.
It was a point of no return, and I've stocked our freezer ever since.

I think making jam is about as easy as a batch of cookies.
I use "Sure Jell" and followed the instructions provided inside the box.

First mash 2 cups of strawberries and put them into a pan.

Stir in 4 cups of sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes, stirring often.

Stir the package of pectin into 3/4 C. water into a small saucepan, and bring to a boil on a high heat. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Stir the pectin into the strawberry mixture. Stir constantly for about 3 minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved and no longer grainy.

I like to boil my lids for a few minutes to make sure they are sanitary.

Make sure your jars are clean, also.

Pour jam into jars. I wipe the rim of the jars clean before adding the lids on top. You're done!
Let the jam stand at room temperature for 24 hours until set. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks. Otherwise, store in freezer for up to 1 year.

Wow, I wish I was your neighbour, what a lovely gift to receive, my mouth is watering! I can imagine, hot buttery toast just waiting for some beautiful strawberry jam, and a cup of tea in a favourite mug, perfect! xo

Making jam and pickles is so satisfying. I think the freezer fruit is cheaper than fresh here. I must get back into it.

YUM! YUM! YUM! I used to make that all the time and haven't done it for years...need to do it again. There's nothing better than freezer jam on a toasted English muffin! Oh now I'm hungry...LOL!

Nothing beats homemade jam. Especially strawberry, my favorite!

Looking good Nedra. I made watermelon jelly this year for my little gifts...it is really yummy and my friend from water aerobics introduced me to that.

I haven't made any jam this year. I feel like I've missed the boat on strawberries. I love this jam. It makes toast so special.
