Today our Dixie Diva's met at Ricci's house for our Christmas party.
First we worked on a project together.
Everyone wanted to learn how to make baskets from the book "It's a Wrap" by Susan Breier.
A few of us in our group had made some baskets before. This one is by Jan J.
Ricci's basket.
More baskets by Ricci.
Melissa
We each brought our machines and began to work away.
After wrapping your cord with fabric, you make a coil.
And then with a zig zag stitch, continue to add the cording.
Verny and Margaret
Margaret's basket will be made with pastel fabrics.
We pre- wrapped our cording before we met. Bev had a few issue's with hers at the beginning!
But once she started sewing, she really enjoyed the process.
Margaret had to make sure Bev's basket would fit on her head.
The sewing part works up quite fast.
After making our baskets we went into the kitchen where we shared a pot luck luncheon.
Ricci's home was decorated beautifully for Christmas.
And the Divas brought very clever gifts for each other.
These are the most wonderful women. We laughed a lot today. More about our gift exchange tomorrow.

Fun! Many years ago I made rag basket with torn fabric, hand wrapped around the cording. It's fine for younger hands but the arthritic ones don't fair as well.
What a fun day!! I have that book and all the supplies to make a basket, but have yet to tackle it! All I have to say is that Ricci has one great studio!
Nedra - lots of ladies in my guild are making these baskets left and right. What a fun way to spend a day
fun baskets, fun party.
