Easter Eggs and Quilt Show Set Up

This time of life is interesting, especially when it comes to holiday's. Most of my children live out of state, and I am now home with two (almost grown) men. Paul and Mr. Cactus may be 38 years apart in age, but well... how do I say this nicely...let's just say that they are often on the same wave length. Lots of guy energy in the house.
That's why when I suggest we keep family traditions like dying Easter eggs, I'm not too sure how they will react.

Last night they were all for dying eggs. What nice guys.

This year I bought a different dying kit than we have ever tried before. This one was tie-dyed.
Takes me back to the 60's.
I thought they turned out pretty good.
The middle yukky looking one is Mr. Cactus' attempt to make his egg look like a football. He marked the laces with a white crayon, and then dipped his egg into every dye to see if he could get "brown". Looks more like ... well, I won't say what I'm thinking because it might not be appropriate. I just appreciate the fact that they humored me last night.
Today has been a busy day. We spent the day at the Dixie Center here in St.George, Utah getting ready for our quilt show that will be held tomorrow and Saturday.
This is a preview of our boutique. Guild members have made a lot of very fun things for sale.
I spent a good part of the afternoon helping Marilyn Badger set up her booth. She is one of our featured artists.
As a reminder, Marilyn has been on TV numerous times, and is a National Award winning quilter. Many of her quilts are pieced by Claudia Clark Meyers, and then Marilyn does the long arm quilting. Even though the show hasn't opened yet, I'll give you a sneak peek of Marilyn's amazing work.
Double click on some of these pictures to see a larger view of her work.

Marilyn just received this one delivered UPS this morning . Many of the colors are hand painted on.

Marilyn also wins awards for her textile clothing.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. This evening we hung over 200 quilts and the workmanship is absolutely stunning. I am so impressed with the caliber of quilting coming from Southern Utah. I stood in awe as I saw the professional nature of this show.
We have nearly 40 vendor booths, and many other things going on.
Tomorrow I will spend the day working out at Superior Threads, where Bob and Heather are offering a tour their facilities with shopping as part of the shows entrance ticket.
If you are anywhere in the near vicinity, make sure to join us in St.George.

Oh my gosh what a great show you will have.
Hopefully next year if you have it, it won't be during the Utah Scots Tartan Ball and Easter weekend...it would be a nice break for my and DH to visit our timeshare this time of year! LOL

Bye the way I can't wait until you blog about the egg cooker...

If only I lived closer that's a show worth attending. Gorgeous quilts. My kids still hunted for plastic eggs filled with coins on Easter morning until they left for college. :o) Too cold in Ohio to hunt for eggs outdoors on Easter.

Too bad Utah isn't closer to Connecticut, I would certainly come to your show. To have all those beautiful quilts and 40 vendors in one spot would be an absolute delight.

Now as for the Easter Eggs, I like the tie dyed effect. They are kind of neat that way. But the football definitely isn't football brown. However, he gave it the good old college try, definitely gets points in my book!

Holy Cow. I thought I was busy. This is going to be great. I wish I was there to see all the good stuff. I'm sure it will be a huge success.

Love the dyed eggs. I hope I have time to get to that!

What wonderful quilts! We're going to dye some eggs as well...last year I didn't...there were just two at home and I thought they'd outgrown it....they haven't let me forget all year that they want to color eggs and have a hunt...even though they're 13 and 17!
