Dixie Diva Christmas Party

I belong to the most wonderful friendship quilting group here in St.George. There are 9 of us and we call ourselves the "Dixie Divas". Last night we celebrated our Christmas party at Pat's house. We each brought an appetizer to share and a gift exchange.
When Margaret went through the Phoenix airport, she saw these dish towels that said "Domestic Diva". She was generous enough to give each one of us a towel.
When Pat saw the dish towels she ran into another room and brought out this bear. Can you believe how similar they are in the logo's?
Jan K. was the first to open her present. I had made her the sewing machine cover.
For some silly idea, putting it on her head seemed like a good idea at the time! (I guess you would have had to be there.) We can't explain why we do what we do. We just do it!

Ricci brought each one of us these long 36-inch Omnigrid rulers. She purchased them at the Houston show, and carried them gently back on the plane.
Bev was polite enough to measure her side. Margaret on the other hand was measuring...how do I put this discreetly? Upper body parts?
There is just no explanation for us. Here's Margaret still measuring away.

Margaret (aka Vanna) received a nice jelly roll pack.

Jan J. received a nice Christmas table runner with napkins.

Melissa got new Gingher scissors.

I got some Kaffe fat quarters (love those Kaffes!) and this sign that fits our group so well.

Margaret drew Ricci's name in our gift exchange. She wrote a poem and read it to Ricci as part of the gift.

Ricci opened her present from Margaret very carefully.

Inside was a cute Amy Butler bag made out of Kaffe fabrics.
Again, there is no explanation for us. These ladies make me laugh and laugh! I laughed so hard last night I lost all my makeup!
That Ricci.

Ricci made Verny a beautiful table runner. It's out of the same fabric Verny had used in a quilt she made this last year. We tried to get her to put in on her head, but she was too shy.

Pat got a nice pitcher and some fat quarters.

Yep, up on the head they went!

Before the evening was over, Pat took us into the study to show us her International Santa's made by Lennox. This collection is stunning.

Pat has also finished the applique on the quilt she has been working on. Now she is hand quilting the entire thing. Can you believe the work, and intricate detail that is going into this quilt? It will be a show stopper for sure. Pat is the current President of the Dixie Quilt Guild and will be a featured artist at our upcoming Quilt Show in April 2009.
ooohhh, ahhhhh....
clap, clap, clap, clap!
If you click on these pictures they will enlarge and you can see her work in even finer detail.

Mom food and hugs huh? I'm not sure there are two more important things in this life. If you read Jen's blog she is on a campaign to get me back to Utah. In fact all 3 comments left on my blog are encouraging me to come back to Utah. A sign that I should come back or a sign that I am loved? Or both?

Oh, and you guys are so silly! I love the idea of putting everything on your head. It stimulates the brain.
