I've been sewing for months in preparation, and was quite looking forward to showing everyone the wonderful products that can be made with Texture Magic.
We were (maybe) 10 minutes into our presentation...
We were all evacuated to the pool area, and to the front of the lodge.
A fire had started in the chimney of the large fireplace in the lobby, and the smoke had gone into the ventilation system. All ended up well, the fire was put out quickly, and everyone was safe.
The locals were in quite the panic because Ruby's Inn has burnt to the ground TWICE, the last time in 1984.
And alas, the trunk show was basically over.
But we did put out a little table that evening for anyone who wanted to purchase Texture Magic, and the TM friendly patterns designed by Annie Unrein.
I wrote a little sign that said "Fire Sale" that drew a lot of laughs.
Hey, you gotta find the humor when these things happen.
(And most importantly I was grateful no one was hurt.)

Glad you are all okay! I couldn't figure out from the post title where you were going with this...never dreamed of what actually happened!
How do you find out about the retreat? I have been hearing about it for several years. I am so glad everything turned out well. I am sure you will be able to present your program somewhere soon. I love the owls, too.
Nedra ~ How scarey!!! I am happy that all was well in the end and you were all safe.
It is fun to see you... even if it is online! You look like you are having a great time.
I have got to get going on my using my Texture Magic. I have come up with a darling idea. You will see it in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!!!

Sounds like a bad karma place. I'm glad nothing bad happened.
You have worked really long and hard for this presentation because over time you have put the items on your blog. THis is a great product and sometime soon, I will try it!!

Oh No!!!, I know how hard you worked on your doll dress quilt!! What a shame that had to happen but as you said, everyone is safe.
Oh that is so sad! After all of your hard work and preparation. But glad everyone is well. It will be one of those things everyone will laugh at one day. Probably already. :)
That's funny! Too bad though you didn't get to show all the fun things TM can do! I got to see some of them at Sew Expo - which convinced me to buy some...had I known I could lose inches/pounds and YEARS I would have bought everything they had! xo, Nan
How bazaar that should happen AGAIN!
The owls are darling!!
Can't believe I missed this post! I am just glad that you were all okay!
