With a name like
Cactus Needle
of course I enjoy seeing
any quilts with a cactus theme.
Prickly Pears
Original Design
Pieced and hand quilted by
Kate Clark
shown at the
Tucson Quilters Guild Show
I really like Kate's wonky version of cacti
She wrote:
"This double sided quilt was inspired by
Alexander Henry's fabric.
I purchased 9 yards of
Prickly Pear
and only 6 inches remain"
There was not a Show Helper around
for me to see the back,
and I didn't want to touch it
or turn it over to photograph
without gloves.
or turn it over to photograph
without gloves.
But, I did enjoy looking at all of Kate's beautiful
hand quilting
with variegated threads
Several people have asked me why I chose the name
Cactus Needle
When we lived in Southern Utah,
and I was just starting my blog,
I asked my husband
who is good with words and has
a Marketing background
a Marketing background
if he had any ideas for a name
that would combine
quilting with our home.
Within seconds he said Cactus Needle!
And now that we have moved to Arizona
and are surrounded by
beautiful majestic Saguaro's
the name still sticks.
(anyone catch that pun?)

good thing you didn't move to New England area :) or you might have wanted to change the name of your blog!
