Rebirth of A Vintage Quilt

      Pat Roche

has been busy working her magic again.

She purchases wonderful vintage quilt tops

and then completes them with

stunning machine quilting.

I'm not sure of the name of this fabulous quilt pattern.

Can anyone help me out here?

It's an Ocean Waves pattern

 Hundreds of  small, one-inch Half Square Triangles all set on point.

Made in the day before rotary cutters and current tools were available.

 Pat's long arm work and interpretation

brings this vintage piece back to life.

 I helped out a little by sewing the binding on.

I love the fabric she used for the back.

Quilt makers in their day often used pieces of leftover clothing, 

or what ever they could find

of scrap fabrics to 

construct their quilts.

Notice all of the stripes are cut on the horizontal,

except for one vertical?

 With age, many of the sections have frayed,

 are discolored,

 or carry stains.

This adds to the personality of the quilt.

 Pat's work gives rebirth.
