Frixion Pens

Have you tried the Frixion erasable pen when working with quilt projects?

My friend Peg showed me these recently, and I think they are a great invention.
The Frixion Pen by Pilot were originally designed to be able to easily erase the writing on paper documents.

But they also can be used when applied to fabric, and erase with the heat of an iron.
Wonderful to use when you have a stitching line you want to follow on multiple pieces, but would like that stitching line to disappear once you are done sewing.
*note: on some darker fabrics, it may leave a "halo" line.

I found the Frixion pen in a 2 pack at my local grocery store for about $3
I noticed there are packs of various sizes and colors available on Amazon.com

I am in the process of cutting out 780 one and a half-inch squares for the new quilt I am working on.

yes, 780 little squares that all need a line drawn from corner to corner.

A nice time to put in a good movie, and sit down and relax for a bit.
Mr. Cactus and I watched one of our favorite movies last night.
Out Of Africa with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep
Winner of 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture 1985
Beautifully written, stunning scenery, with music that makes you dream of being whisked away to far off lands.

I have never seen Out of Africa. I need to start a new "movies to watch" list.

Everyone seems to love those pens.

I have never heard of that pen. Did you check to make sure the mark doesn't come back after it is washed? you say the line comes out from heat? I might have to look for this and try it out :)
Good movie - I always like Robert Redford movies but I don't always like Meryl Streep
looking forward to seeing what pattern you are making using all the little pieces

Ha....I just bought my first Frixion pen yesterday. I have read great things about them.

The Frixion pens are great for marking and it does iron off nicely. However, if you mark on something dark like black or navy it leaves a very light ghost. Also, the marking may reappear if the item marked is left in a very cold temperature. Try it on a scrap to see what I am talking about.

Thank you SO much for talking about that pen! I have something I need to try that on. Can't wait to see what you've got in mind for those squares! Are you coming up for the quilt show?

I love that movie, I think it's in my top 10.
Those are awfully tiny squares, can't wait to see the finished product :)

I have used these pens for months and LOVE them. Iron to remove, put in the freezer to make the lines REAPPEAR. MAGIC!

Thank you so much for the pens tip. Will have to check them out. As for your new project you'd better line up a lot of movies- That's are an awful number of squares to mark:)
