Happy 4th of July

Because the 4th is on a Sunday, we had our family celebration yesterday with the traditional swim party, BBQ and fireworks.

Mr. Cactus has 5 brothers. Now that they are adults, you would think the competitiveness would die down.
Not so.
You might consider they would set a higher example for their own sons.
Nope.
The pool party quickly became "King of The Mattress".

The cushy seat cannot be owned for long.
And you would think that maybe for one moment they might share.

Not on your life.
Despite the bruises and scratches, it was survival of the fittest until exhaustion came.
The next competition moved on to rock jumping.
Who can make the fanciest move into the pool?

Or the largest cannonball splash?
I'm surprised there was any water left in the pool.
The BBQ included traditional American food complete with grilled hamburgers and watermelon.
Although I did make English trifle for dessert. (I was going for the red, white and blue look).

Once the sun set, we sat on the front lawn and helped the children light off fireworks.

Sparkler fun with our nephews.
We are 234 years old today.

Happy Birthday America.
