Butterflies Are Free Finished

I have finished my Butterflies Are Free quilt.
*To read more about the making of this quilt, see post 7/9/10.

With 13 blocks across and 17 blocks down, there were a total of 221 blocks.
The finished size ended up being 79" x 103",which makes it a Twin with a longer drop.
This would be a fun quilt made up in any size.

I really enjoyed making Butterflies Are Free. Very easy to do, and such a good way to use up stash fabrics.

As I was making this quilt it dawned on me that the butterfly wings would be fun to make with the new precut Moda Candy Bars(2.5" x 5") that just came out on the market.
As a side note: I will be teaching Butterflies Are Free as a class at Quilted Works here in St. George this fall.

Great quilt Nedra. It looks good with the black background. I love it and I think I like all your quilts. We have similar quilting style. I haven't made many scrap quilts lately, but they are the only quilts I like making - Teaching the class would be so much fun - Hugs Nat

What a lovely quilt! Just adore the simple design that is so colorful! Despite seeing the name..I associate these blocks with packages that have been tied too tight with ribbon! Sort of squashed boxes...the way I wrap at midnight on Christmas eve! ;-)

I've been working on the same pattern, but just a little at a time as I come across pieces of fabric that are too large to throw away yet too small to do much with. I like the wonkiness of it - less stressing about precision.

It's fabulous...a REAL quilt! (as opposed to those that are just squares sewn together - my specialty!) I love the colors and the scrappy-ness of it! As my Aussie friend would say , GOOD ON YOU! xo, Nan
