Must Have Buttons!

I've been good. Honest I have.
But today, my addiction got the best of me. I succumbed.
MUST HAVE BUTTONS.

Over the summer I've been collecting buttonishy (yes, that word must exist somewhere) fabric.

And it doesn't help to have friends who point out every buttonishy possibility.
(well... maybe it does help, because I bought everything they noticed.)

Bev even mailed me her scraps from Logan.
Margaret donated an entire half yard of a great find.
And they have all been sitting very patiently on a shelf, calling to me......"Come find me. Let's play!"

So today I pulled them all out.

After all, doesn't something bad happen to fabric if you don't "Air" it out? I know I must have heard that somewhere.

My grandmother made my brother a sock monkey when he was a little boy. He loved it so much he decided he was going to "BE" a monkey when he grew up. Every time I look at sock monkey's, I think of my big brother, who I still idolize.

Jackie told me the symbols on this fabric are Pennsylvania Dutch.

I'm ruined, I tell you. I had to hold myself back today and limit myself to two from each fabric.

A few months ago I purchased 100 (1 1/2" size 60) backs and eyes from http://www.coverbuttons.com/
I'm a little embarrassed to tell you that I've just about used them all. You know what that means don't you?

After all, I still have lots and lots and lots of fabric left to make covered buttons with.

Yep, I will be ordering more. I should have stock in this company I've recommended them so often.

These were my favorite out of the group I made today. Any quilt fabric with birds has been calling to me.
I'm going to have to come up with some kind of fun project to put these on. The only thing I know is it...
MUST HAVE BUTTONS.

LOL I guess it is a safe addiction as they go, anyway!
Love all of your buttons but I have a soft spot for the Pennsylvania Dutch hex symbols buttons.
My grfather grew up in the midst of Amish country and his family is half German and we have made trips there in the past. My Mom gifted me with hex signs that hung in my kitchen until our fire and I have one now on my garage.

I do not even make buttons but now i look at fabric in a whole different way, you could cover a whole board and then frame them and hang it in your studio! How cool of a piece of art would that be!! I love them!!

Nedra....I am glad that you sent the link for the buttons because now I can get some. I think they are so expensive to buy a couple of them at a time at Joann's. I love the buttons that you made. I actually bought a couple of pieces of fabric last week to make some buttons and I wanted to send you a piece of each. E-mail me your address and I will send them your way! Have a great day!

My favorite is the pennsylvania dutch fabric, of course. Love them all though. I covered some buttons just over the weekend. It is relaxing and productive at the same time. Then they are so pretty in the jars.

Oh Nedra - What are we going to DO with you? Feed the obsession, I guess. LOL Lovely buttons - I especially like the birds, and the pennsylvania dutch ones. Can't wait to see what you do with them all - of course, it's perfectly fine to set them on the shelf and just look at them!
