Get Workin' On Mumbo Gumbo

It's time to get workin' on Mumbo Gumbo. Our Dixie Diva's decided months ago that we would all make this quilt as a group.
And I AM the one who introduced this pattern to the ladies.
Better get A Crackin'!

Mumbo Gumbo by Pie In The Sky Quilts.

Bev had hers done before summer started and she headed off to Logan.

This is such a great stash buster.
And Jan K. had hers finished at our last night meeting.

Jan does a lot of her quilts out of batiks, so this one was done from her batik left overs.

Jan's and Bev's look a lot more symmetrical and organized than mine.

I've placed a few of my finished blocks up on the design wall. I will rearrange them once I have the rest finished.

My Mumbo Gumbo is truly a scrap quilt. No rhyme nor reason is involved. I cut strips of fabric left over from years of projects, mixing the old with the new. Nothing matches.
My how my tastes have changed over time.
The red is from the red, black and white quilt I recently finished and is off at the quilters.
Working with these fabrics has been a trip down memory lane, where I have been visiting my quilts of the past.

Nedra....I love your quilt! I think the randomness and non symmetrical-ness is what makes it truly mumbo gumbo! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!

Yay! You are working on it and it looks fantastic! Isn't it amazing that we can remember where we purchased fabric?

Don't you just love when you pick up some fabric you used a couple years ago and all the memory's come back.

I like all of your mumbo gumbo quilts I love that just a little bit different fabric makes them all so unique.

Great Job!

That's going to be an awesome quilt. I love scrap quilts, too. My friendship group exchanged strips to make Pineapple blocks. As with you, it was MY idea and they all have a bunch of blocks done and I've barely started. I guess we're just the idea people!

It's fun to pull out scraps and remember the quilts you used them in. I've found that when I make a quilt for someone in particular, I think about them the whole time I am making it. I wonder if they know how much love and thoughts of them go into the quilts we make?

What a great way to use up your scraps! I had never seen that pattern before. IT is awesome. I'm excited to see more.

When I work with scraps from old quilts not only do I remember the stage of life I was in, but also the movies I watched while making that quilt! :)

You know I love scrap quilts like this. This one made me giggle. I felt like I should go get my glasses or that I had google eye glasses on. Kind of fun. The eye plays tricks with this quilt. Love it.
