Tumbler Bows Baby Quilt

Today I finished binding the "Tumbler Bows Baby Quilt".
The pattern is an original design by Nanette Merrill of Freda's Hive.

I am making this with little girl fabrics. Most of the pieces are from Amy Butler lines.
I'm not much of a pink fan, but I loved these together.
I usually don't quilt my own quilts either, but this one looked like something I could handle.

Just follow along and stitch in the ditch. I can do that.
Besides I wanted to look oh so stylin' in my machine quilting gloves.
Who could possibly pass up an opportunity to wear these?
All of the fabrics were from fat quarters so I made the binding scrappy.

I put minky on the back. I know a baby will love the softness of the backing, and the texture of the nubs.
This is being tucked away for my daughter Amy who is expecting. We don't know if she will have a girl or not as of yet. After two little darling boys everyone will be happy either way. But, her mother-in-law had a dream that the next one is a girl, and we would love it if she's right.

Aw Nedra the quilt is so incredibly lovely. The fabrics are beautiful and it is such a good feeling to quilt your own quilt! Baby quilts are perfect for that. I'm glad you enjoyed making it. I have one nearly exactly like it with minky on the back and all. Different fabrics, but the same feel with modern fabric. Sweet, so sweet. Thanks for showing it!! You're fabulous.

That is beautiful Nedra. I love the fabrics, and the pink! I like green and pink together.I also really like what you did with the back. That is a fun addition to the quilt. One of my favorites...I think. Until you make another one.

Nedra.. it turned out so lovely.

I have a question. Do you have a walking foot attached there to your machine for quilting?

That's so cute Nedra! I have to tell you about a friend of mine - she has four children - only one is married so far, and there are no grandchildren on the horizon yet. However, she has made about 20 baby quilts for her FUTURE grandchildren already! She's afraid that once they start arriving she'll be too busy to sew so she's stockpiling them! LOL

Nedra, your baby quilt turned out so cute and what a great gift to give. Was it hard to quilt with the minky on the back?
