Washington County Fair Quilts

I haven't been to a County Fair in...whoa...so many years I can't even remember. Now that we are living in Southern Utah we are trying to immerse ourselves in the local culture. And I heard that the Dixie Quilt Guild was hanging a show of quilts. (My true motivation, but shhh...don't tell my family).
The towns here are small, so the fair was small. That is something I like about this area. We don't have to fight such huge crowds. The atmosphere last night was very family friendly. We saw a lot 3 generations families walking together.

Another motivation for going was the fact that my 16 year old son said he'd actually hang out with us "old guys" on a Friday night.

The memories of previous Fairs came back pretty quickly. Do you remember those rides that made you lose the Corn Dog you had just inhaled five minutes before? Fair Food is timeless. I always liked to get Corn on the Cob where the butter literally dripped off my elbows as I ate it.

Ahh..I'll let Paul go on these rides now.

My husband wanted me to go on the Ferris Wheel with him. I'm afraid of heights, so he didn't push me too hard. I compromised by going with him to see a little bit of the boxing competition and the "guy toys" like 4-wheelers and motorcycles.

Plus it was more fun to stay on the ground and take pictures of my son on the rides.

Now to the important part--The Quilt Show
My husband compromised by coming with me to this.

I loved the colors on this one.

My husband said this one was his favorite. He really liked the machine quilting.

I thought the machine quilting on this one was nicely done. Loved the ants.

This one is by Linda Sidlow

I like to take a picture up close so I can appreciate the machine quilting that adds so much to the project.

All the embroidery work was done by hand.

Just gorgeous. My favorite is the brown/green snail's trail. Also love the ant.
