Saturday was our June Meeting for the
Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild
We just received
membership cards
and pins
as we are also part of the
National
*as a side note,
MQG had it's beginnings in Los Angeles in 2009
We are still very young!
Our group was in for a real treat this month
as fellow PMQG member
Alyssa Lichner (Pile O'Fabric)
taught a class
on the
Cross Stitch Block
*If you would like to learn how to make this block
Alyssa offers a free Tutorial
on her web site
Alyssa is a wonderful teacher
and shared with us several ways to make the
Cross Stitch block.
Her preferred method is to use a
glue/ baste technique.
A Cross Stitch block
can be placed in many different type of settings.
Alyssa gave us a pattern for a simple heart shape.
Slice and Insert method
Once the block is made,
it can be trimmed down to the needed size.
Thank you Alyssa for sharing your talents and skills with us!
It's really a lot of fun to be part of the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild
Denise and Shanyn provided the most delicious treats
this month.
I'm not sure how many total members we have
but about 33 attended our June meeting.
We met at ETC.
a cute scrapbook and quilting store in Mesa.
Of course I had to do a little shopping after the meeting was over.
I'm really trying to use what I have,
but needed
a few turquoise/ aqua
Fat Quarters to add to my stash.
I was especially excited to find a piece
of Gracie Girl (with the navy circles)
designed by my friend Lori Holt/ Bee In My Bonnet !

nice! I went to the tutorial site to look at it - I like the gray she used for a background on that one. You are lucky you live in an area of such variety for guilting
Sounds like a fun time. Love the cross stitch block. Thanks for sharing the link to the tutorial.
