Stitch One Quilt Too

Deborah Segaert
from the Central Coast of Australia
has written a very interesting article
about using black as a component
in quilt designs.
can be found
over on her blog
Stitch One Quilt Too
From traditional to contemporary
Deborah gives a nice overview
including cultural perspective
of the use of black in quilts.
How do you feel about incorporating
black when you are planning
out the fabric selection in your quilts?

I find using solid black in a quilt (a lot of it) creates a place for dust and lint to show up. Recently I was told that if you want a black background in a quilt to not use a solid but a fabric that shows as solid but actually has a type of small gray print in it - it looks solid but isn't and for some reason doesn't attract the dust and lint or it just doesn't show up as much.
