Scrappy Steps Crocheted Afghan

I love scrap quilts. So it doesn't surprise me that I'm also drawn to scrappy type afghans.

Scrappy Steps is a great way to use up little left over lengths of yarn.

Right now the afghan is looking a little bit like a pendant. Once I reached the desired length, I'll start filling in to make a 45" X 45" square.

One of the nice things about this pattern is you can make it any size you want and with any color scheme.

I found the pattern for Scrappy Steps with free tutorials by Bethintx1 on YouTube.

I'm always amazed at how many things there are to learn on the Internet.

What a terrific age to live! I don't have a grandmother or close relative to sit next to while I try and learn some of these arts. I am so grateful for individuals who often welcome us into their homes while they share their skills.

As a visual learner and a new crocheter, the 6 short tutorials were clear and concise and easy to follow.

And I love the fact that if I forget something, I can go back and replay part by part.

that will be pretty - I don't have enough yarn to make something like that right now but I guess I need to start collecting some :)

Very nice. It's always fun to make something so pretty and useful from scraps. I like the design of that one. It's almost a linear granny square. ;)

I love it, Nedra! What a clever pattern! It's so unique and a great twist on the usual 'increase at both ends' type of diagonal design. I also love scrappy afghans like this. It's such a great way to use up what you have to make something extra special!

Nedra - I've never seen an afghan made like that before - only in straight rows or squares. It's going to be totally awesome when it's done - I love the colors you're using.
