Prayers For Sale

I just finished reading a nice quilt related book "Prayers For Sale" by Sandra Dallas.

Set in 1936 in an isolated Colorado mining town, two women meet, one 86 and the other 17. A friendship develops, and the women find comfort through sharing their life stories and quilts.
I've always been a Sandra Dallas fan, and have read most of her books. Sandra is an award winning author of both novels and non-fiction, and much of her inspiration comes from the history of Colorado and the western part of the United States.
Because I was born and raised in the West, I love reading stories of the towns and people who helped settle our communities.

My favorite of all Sandra Dallas novels is The Persian Pickle Club.
PPC is also set in the 1930's, and tells the story of a young Kansan farm wife who's highlight of the week is to gather with the women of her quilting group.

My favorite Sandra Dallas non-fiction book is "The Quilt That Walked To Golden". Filled with pictures of quilts from The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, the book shares the stories of the lives and deaths of women who journeyed The Overland Trail to Colorado.
I actually purchased my own copy several years ago at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum book store. I loved the museum and it's quilts, and highly recommend a visit if you have the opportunity.
