Helen Butler Quilts

As I was teaching at Bryce, Helen Butler was teaching in the class room next door. What a treat to be able to go over to see her class "Frostings On The Cake" where she taught how to perfect bindings and add edge treatments.
Helen is an award winning quilter, and lives in Alpine, Utah.

Helen's row quilt hanging at the back of the room was the first to catch my eye. She does her own quilting on a domestic machine. wow!

Love the baskets.

Helen taught a free motion quilting class on Thursday night. My room mate Judi went and when she came back to our room, she raved about how wonderful the class was. At the end of the Retreat I asked several people what they felt was their favorite class, and many said "Helen Butler's Free Motion Quilting."
"Twinkle" is a Piece O' Cake design.

"Peacock Feathers" a whole cloth quilt.
Helen won 1st place for Conventional Machine at HMQS 2009.

Such beautiful work! Notice the crystals.

And I do believe she used some Razzle Dazzle by Superior Threads for the couching on the edge.

I really miss Ruby's! I need to make it an annual trip again, but I'm in teenager mom phase and can't get away too easily (too many activities).

I LOVE the row quilt as I have designed three myself. Hers is a fun one!

Beautiful quilts--by the way, I love Mumbo Gumbo. Is it hard or rather fun and easy?

Mary- The Mumbo Gumbo quilt is about as easy as it gets. A great class for beginners, and a wonderful way to use up scraps.

The quilts you are showing are great, I want to make them all... Love the basket and the one you taught, looks like ya had such a good time. I told Nanette I tried the texture magic skit on me last night, it worked great but I'm all wrinkled.

Nedra ~ I think Helen Butler is right up there with the very best when it comes to quilting. Thanks for sharing her quilts!
