Dixie Diva August Night Meeting

Last night was our Dixie Diva night meeting. Jan K. wins the award for being the BEST to bring Show and Tell. We were really missing Margaret and Bev, our most prolific quilters who manage to bring so many finished projects each month.
The rest of us are such slackers! Thanks Jan for keeping us going!

Jan finished "Thistle Pods" a Judy Niemeyer design. She took this class from Judy when she was here in St.George a few months ago, and Jan says she was just about the best teacher she has ever had.

Judy even stayed and helped her class members pick out fabrics for their next project.
Now, that's service.

Pictures never show how magnificent these quilts look in real life. I wish you had all been there to see how spectacular this quilt is.

Jan just finished this one also. The pattern name is "Sunny Disposition" from Quilt Soup, and it's from a kit purchased last year.
I especially loved the center block.

And the appliqued flowers.

This year our Dixie Diva group is all making "Mumbo Gumbo" by Pie in The Sky Quilts. Bev and Jan are the only ones to have theirs finished. Yep, the rest of us are slackers! (I've started mine, does that count?)

Jan did hers in left over batiks. One of the things I love about this quilt is that we are only using left overs from our stash.

Pat did bring a Southwest piece she is in the process of hand quilting.
Hand quilting really feels like it's becoming a lost art. I appreciate Pat who does such an amazing job.
Margaret and Bev, you were really missed at our meeting. Hurry back and join us soon! (And bring all those finished projects when you come.)

  2. Lots of diverse and interesting quilts there - I agree about the hand -quilting and it really is so much nicer than by machine - probably too time consuming for most of us!
