This was called the Halloween Spooktacular Swap 2009.
I think around 100 of us joined.

Today I finished putting all my blocks in a setting. It's always hard to decide what to do. I framed each block in an orange fabric and then put them together with traditional sashing.

The quilt ended up being a long "Double Size" at 78" X 107"

Jane organized us into groups of 12.
This one is a Buggy Barn design with 3-D legs.
Some used the latest fabrics.
Others were more traditional.
People took a lot of time to make their blocks, and I loved them all. I will think of the talent of these ladies every time I look at my quilt.
And of course every quilt I make lately I think of ways to add Texture Magic. For this project the TM went into the corner stones.

I made witch's shoes and socks for my group.
This is one I received and I love how they are fussy cut.
We then mailed 24 blocks back to Jane. She sorted them all out and sent 24 back.
This is from Jackie K. of Canton Village Works.
One of the blocks was embroidered with a 3-D spider.

I really enjoyed participating in this swap. Thank you Jane for all your hard work in coordinating us!
It turned out so cute! Awesome blocks from everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful swap you had. The quilt has turned out so well. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the result of your swap. Really great blocks.
ReplyDeleteNedra, It turned out just gorgeous!! Now you have given me inspiration to complete mine. But it definitely won't be done this year. I just love yours! So glad you were in my group.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt. I'm sure it even looks more amazing in person, but each block looks adorable. How fun! It was good to see you the other day. Maybe since we don't see each other on Sunday anymore, we'll have to catch up at fabric sales.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out adorable!
ReplyDeleteSimply awesome! I think that says it all!
ReplyDeleteI love how this turned out. The black sashings with the corner stones really sets the blocks off. Wasn't this a fun swap?
ReplyDeleteOh Nedra, look what you did!! I love how you framed each block and the even added sashing. Also the TM added a super touch!! I so agree with you, I loved this swap, the talent of all the ladies was amazing!! And mine is very big too, I do not know about yours but mine weights a ton. I have started to hand quilt it and have decided to quilt each theme block different, to suit the block. This swap was so much fun, that I joined a Christmas one just like it at http://auntpittypats.blogspot.com/ I will be doing mittens, and they are not due until the end of January. You might want to take a peek!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one super cute quilt for Halloween. This swap was a success!!
