This quilt has been a work in progress for several months as I have taken my time hand appliqueing the six hen blocks.
The pattern design is from Stitches and Sew Forth

I loved the scappy look of each block, and the bright fun fabrics that feel like Spring.
I read this book to my children as they were growing up, especially at times when I needed them to do their jobs around the house.
In the book, no one wants to help plant, tend, cut, or grind the wheat. No one wants to help make the bread either. "Not I, Not I, Not I" the children say. But everyone wants to help eat the bread.
The point being of course, that we must all help do the work first before having the reward.
I appreciated a book that supported me as a mother, as I tried to instill values in my children.
With 5 children I needed all the help I could get. Still do.
So glad that you finished it and shared the pics. It is so cute!
