April Fools

Look at this face. It may look like the face that says "Who me?" or "What did I do?"

But my son is 17 and yesterday was April 1st.
My husband was in the kitchen early in the morning and I heard him shout very loudly "Paul!"
I could hear little chuckles coming from my son, and I knew something was up.
I walked into the kitchen to see Mr. Cactus completely soaked across the front of his body.

Paul had placed a piece of tape across the handle of the sprayer. When Mr. Cactus thought he was turning on the faucet, instead the sprayer that was facing directly towards him came on full blast.
April Fools!
We pulled the tape off, and I think Paul laughed all the way to school.
I have to admit I laughed a little too.
The embarrassing part is that he has pulled this prank on every April 1st for years and years. You'd think we'd remember! (It's hard getting old).

Paul comes home from school everyday about 3:00, grabs something to eat before he heads off to work.
I turned on the kitchen faucet and got blasted too. "Paullllllll!!!!"
Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.
I pulled off the tape and told him in my most whiny voice that I thought it was extremely hilarious when his dad got wet, but it's not funny when it happens to me!
Paul got home from work around 8:30, and dutifully started his homework at the computer right off the kitchen. Right before bed I made the mistake of turning on the kitchen faucet to rinse off a dish. Yep, I got blasted again. Completely soaked. (What can I say, I'm a very slow learner.)
"Paullllllllll!!!!!!"
Very evil chuckle chuckle chuckle.
I made him promise me that he wouldn't do any more April Fools jokes for that day. He agreed.
Whew!
Now I'm getting a little nervous. I have only 364 more days until the next April 1st, and I'm afraid I won't remember the faucet trick.

  1. He looks very pleased with himself in the picture. Not to worry, I think I am also a slow learner as well.

  5. That is very FUNNY! I think he would get me everytime too! Great Joke! The only thing that keeps me safe is that we don't have that kind of faucet. Whew! Lucky me!

  6. The best (and only) joke I ever pulled was to put a very thin piece of cardboard into the Wrigley's gum wrapper and then offer it as piece of gum to my husband. I thought it was very clever of me! He was not impressed!
