Last week the bishop of our church congregation approached me with a special task. One of our beloved local church leaders is terminally ill and has taken a turn for the worst. The bishop knows that I am a quilter and asked if I could get a group together to make a quilt for President Nelson ASAP. I approached 4 friends and asked if they would help me put something together right away.
Last Sunday we had each member of our congregation sign their names to muslin block. I donated homespun's to be mixed in rows around the signature blocks.
Aren't quilters wonderful? The women that I know are always so generous with their time and talents. Everyone rearranged their schedules to meet at my house this morning to assemble the quilt.
Lucille donated all the muslin and helped gather the signatures so each member of our congregation was represented. She also helped with the sewing.
Patti helped with the design of the quilt and the sewing today. Tomorrow she is going to do the long arm stitching and binding of the quilt. The quilt will be ready to be ready to be delivered by tomorrow night.
Lucille and Patti.
Doris helped with the signature blocks and did all our ironing.
Ann helped with today with the sewing. With these angel women's contributions, we completed the top in just 3 hours.
Quilts from the heart are the best. What a lovely group of ladies.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you all came together so quickly and got this done. I know he and his family will just love and appreciate it so much:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching kind deed you did along with these great women. The quilt will be a treasure for him through this terrible ordeal and provide comfort for his wife when the ordeal is complete. Great job.
