National Quilting Day

Happy National Quilting Day!
Did you know that the 3rd Saturday in March was set apart by NQA (National Quilting Assoc.) in 1991 as a way to bring attention to the quilting arts?
It just so happens that this year, the celebration also occurs on St. Patrick's Day.
My way of honoring both happenings is to share with you a few more pictures of inspiration from the Arizona Quilters Guild Show.
Liberated Houses and Flowers by Judith Ritner
Quilted by Cindy Phare
My favorite part of this quilt were the lovely ladies, dressed in bright happy fabrics.
They reminded me of a quilt made in 2010 by Stephanie Dunphy (Loft Creations) called Ladies of The Garden.
You can view more of Stephanie's quilt HERE.
Judith wrote "I created my own blocks, some with my own planned blocks, some 'liberated' techniques and two were modified blocks by others."
Each little section made me smile.
Stars Forever
Pieced and quilted by Gerri Smit
Gerri shared "Inspired by the Mexican Star 30" wall hanging pattern. The challenge was to convert it into a queen sized quilt. It took me three weeks to quilt."
Love the quilting!
