More From Houston

Another full day here in Houston. I'm still trying to comprehend how much there is to see. With working, my time to view the vendors is limited and I almost haven't known where to begin. There are around 950 vendor booths!

People have been happy and polite. Many have looked how I have felt: walking around wide eyed, trying to soak it all in.

One of my favorite booths was Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods, that carried a very colorful selection of ribbons, buttons and trims.

I've spent most of my time working in the Quilt Show Shoppe with my friend Pati, who is so fun to be around.
Pati is in charge of the shop. When ever you receive an on-line order from The Quilt Show, you are the recipient of Pati's hard work.

It's been fun to watch Alex Anderson interact with all her fans. She and her staff spend most of their time signing people up for The Quilt Show. They are getting ready to launch a new magazine, also.

Ricky Tims has his own booth section where he sells his music and quilt patterns. Ricky just came out with a new Christmas CD called "Christmas In A Small Town."

In the morning, we have about a 1/2 hour to walk through the quilt displays. I went one morning with Heather (Mother Superior) and Annie Unrein to see the Indigo's of China.

A wrapping cloth.

In the Silent Auction area we saw this miniature called "Day Tripping With Jane and Mother Superior" by Philippa Naylor of the United Kingdom. Philippa uses a lot of Superior Threads.

Every day there are many guests artists who come into the Quilt Show booth and show their beautiful works of art. Sue Garman designed both Block of The Month quilts for 2010 that are on display in the Quilt Show booth. I am showing a little teaser that you can see behind Sue. The rest I edited out because you need to see this pieced quilt in it's entirety on The Quilt Show web site, which will be shown at the end of the year. I really fell in love with the bright colors of this quilt. We started selling kit here at the show, and then every month members can download the patterns free.

  4. Thanks Nedra for taking me to the show. I have been there once and I understand about wide eyes (in the morning only LOL). I felt as sleep at the fashion show one evening because I was so tired at the end of the day.
My friend Cynthia Tomaszwaski is there too her company is Simple Pleasure Quilt Design. She doesn't have a booth anymore, but she walks the floor promoting her patterns and books. Enjoy the rest of the show - Hugs Natima

  6. I love Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods. Their booth just sucks you in and holds you there so you want to buy everything. Okay, so I am impressed 950 booths. There are only 550 at market, but I think that is because the fabric companies take up multiple booths. I would love to go to festival some day. Glad you are having a great time!
