Are They Serious?

Look what just came in the mail. Oh, where shall I spend it? The Bahamas? Cruising?

Of course it took a 33-cent stamp to get it to my house.
Mr. Cactus informed me that it takes $25 in business handling fees to mail out a refund check. He thinks I should write the Laboratory Corporation of America and let them know we have a suggestion that would save them a lot of money in the future. Most corporations have a computer system that kicks back checks under a reasonable amount.
To make this situation even more ridiculous, this refund is from a lab test I had taken a YEAR AGO. (They should pay me interest on that penny!)

I'm a little nervous. Void if not cashed in 120 days.

  1. You need to cash it just to watch the reaction of the bank people. I think you could probably really make someone's day cashing that one. Of course, you'll have to just quietly watch for the reaction and not point it out. And then they probably will look around for a tv crew

  7. This happens all the time. Ridiculous! It takes more to send it than the check. Agree completely. Love your blog. Will return to follow! Stephanie from Maryland

  8. Cash it! I wonder how many people handle it and what it costs to process, besides the cost to issue it.

  9. OMG...the bank teller will probably have to look at it 10 times. And everyone wonders why the cost of healthcare is so high. LOL!

  10. Corporate waste! With the interest rates so low you'd probably have made less than 1/2 a cent in that year. Don't go spend it all in one place now!

  11. LOL! Thanks for the laugh of the day! I agree with Becky...you need to go cash it just to watch the teller's face! Could you take pictures and then blog about it too?! LOL!

  15. Very funny indeed. Australians don't even have one cent coins anymore so we wouldn't be able to cash it - only deposit it! LOL

  17. That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Seriously people need to get involved again and leave the computers out of it...how could anyone waste so much money to send someone a penny!!
