Nanette ( Freda's Hive) Lori (Bee In My Bonnet), me, and Kim (Bitty Bits and Pieces).
I have such admiration for these talented ladies. They all are designers, and create the most wonderful things. I felt so fortunate to sit with them and listen to all the ideas going on at the table.
All are so busy and I appreciate them for taking the time so we could gather. Nanette has a wedding and her first grandbaby due in less than 2 weeks. She gets an extra big thank you!
The ladies came bearing gifts. It felt like Christmas.
Lori gave each one of us a sampling from her fabric stash.
And some hollyhock seeds from her garden. I love hollyhocks, and Lori tells me they will grow beautifully in the hot climate of St. George
And she made these cute chickens then filled them with candy.
Kim gave each one of us one of her darling black, red and white pouches, from her most recent tutorial and post on Moda Bake Shop. And of course more chocolate.
Nanette shared some of her vintage fabrics and a hand stamped bag filled with goodies.
After lunch we went shopping at a few quilt stores. Lori unveiled her latest design "Comforts Of Home".
Look at all the intricate details Lori puts into her applique designs.
I love the red long johns.
And the great nine-patch quilt incorporated on the back of the chair.
Lori's 10 year old daughter Kassidy stitches the embroidered letters for Lori's quilts. Great job Kas!
Lori explained a lot of the family history and experiences that she designed this quilt around.
For example the art on the refrigerator have the names of her children.
This poem made up the label for the back of the quilt.
While we were at Quilts, Etc. I noticed a Texture Magic quilt that is being offered as a class. Taught by Bobbie Michaelis, the quilt is called "Cute Baby".
I was so happy to see Quilts, Etc using Texture Magic.
Quilts, Etc was hosting their Open House for class sign ups. I love this Halloween spider web quilt.

"Comforts of Home" was on the wall, completed by one of Lori's students.
This one was designed with a old I Love Lucy on the TV.
Lori is teaching an applique club each month at Material Girls. Her latest blocks are Paper Dolls.
How all this comes out of Lori's brain is amazing to me.
It's been a perfect day.

ReplyDeleteIt's so good to get together with friends. Today the mermaids got together. We had a pie making demo, I did a demo on the economy quilt nine patch and then we did some canning. Of course the food was beyond earthly. Friends are the spice of life.

ReplyDeleteWe really had fun. I loved it. It was a shot in the arm for me. I am so glad we had time together. Lori's quilts are so creative. I think we make a good group the 4 of us!!! I'm itching to make a texture magic roof.

ReplyDeleteGee, I wish I could have joined you! Lori's quilts are my favorite to make. I'm just finishing up Thanksgiving Dinner, am in the middle of A Woman's Work is Never Done, and have but haven't even cracked Comforts of Home. Since I was in St. George I did finish the snowman and scarecrow quilts, though. I've got to add that in there to remind myself that I do finish a project every once in a while, rather than just start! But speaking of starting, that halloween web quilt would be oh so fun and I have so many scraps left over from the witch quilt from Lazy Daisy that we both made.
We will be in St. George this weekend for Swiss Days. It would be so fun to stop by sometime we are down there and see all your new quilts in person!
