This store is so perfectly named. Findings is just that. What a find!
Owner Nancy King-Monk has scoured many a flea market, and tapped into the talents of many a designer. She was so pleasant and friendly to visit with.
I was IN LOVE just walking through the door.
First my eye landed on beautiful Kaffe fabrics. Her selections of fabrics were limited but every thing she carries is so beautiful.
And then there were shelves and shelves of amazing ribbons and trims. I wanted them all.
When I was a little girl my mother would take me to Sausalito to shop and we always visited a store that was lined with every kind of imaginable trim. I didn't want a toy or ice cream. I spent my few pennies on trims.
And the vintage buttons took my breath away.
I could live at this store.
Look at the amazing hand work on these jackets.
I knew I had to purchase at least a little bit of braids or trim, but where to start?
I limited myself to just a small cut of these three.
And some French braid "birds".
And then I purchased this crocheted pin by Betty Withrow. I have enjoyed seeing every one's crocheted granny squares on the blogs and since I don't have the time to join you, this will be my little version.
Findings is located on San Carlos between Ocean and 7th, P.O. Box 6638, Carmel, CA 93921 (831) 624-3700
oh Wow what a find!!! I can imagine spending hours in there. How wonderful and I love the braid you bought home. I don't think I could have chosen!! xo
ReplyDeleteI bet you thought you were in Heaven! We've been to Sausalito, too back in '88 or was it '89 - we've had our photo albums out since reading of your adventures - fortunately we had a wonderful Nikon camera with all the works and jerks, so still have beautiful shots - I must scan and Post soon!

I just love shops like that I could spend all day there. Thanks for the tour. It looks like the jackets were made out of recycled vintage tablecloths.
ReplyDeleteThat shop looks like so much fun!! I just love all the trims and ribbons. They are a must have. Those are shops you can spend tons of time in and always find something new.
ReplyDeleteFun store. Good thing I wasn't there. I have a hard time saying no to pretty things and antiquey things as well. Love the trims and the embroidered jackets.

beautiful shop...thanks for the tour
ReplyDeleteWow, would I love to get in there!! Wonderful store and i love what you bought!!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of making a quilt with trim around the blocks. I know it might be weird because trim doesn't stretch like fabric but I'm still thinking about it. This trim is fantabulous.
ReplyDeleteNedra....what beautiful findings! I love places like that, especially when I want something unusual for a project!
