I love to watch DVD's when I quilt. Lately, I've been watching The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. They offer their show on line, but you can also buy their DVD's.
As I have mentioned, I work for Superior Threads. Both Alex and Ricky have placed their names on threads made by Superior. Alex's name is on MasterPiece (50 weight cotton that is used for piecing). Ricky's name is on Art Studio Colors (40 weight Trilobal Poly), and Razzle Dazzle (Metallic/Poly blend for bobbin work and couching).
It's been fun to watch their DVD, to learn more about the quilting world, and the products available to us. Both Ricky and Alex play well off each other, bringing their own distinct approach to quilting.
When Alex previously hosted her show "Simply Quilts" on TV, I taped just about every episode. Watching the DVD brought back all the memories of the years I loved her show. I was a new quilter, and she introduced so much information to my newly developing skills.
On Series 2 I watched a show with Cindy Needham. Cindy is one of the Superior Threads Educators (and such a nice lady!) and I was able to take a class from her last February. She will be coming back to St. George from time to time to teach at our School Of Threadology that will be opening soon.
So, if you are looking for some great DVD's, I highly recommend The Quilt Show. I think they would be wonderful to add to a Christmas list, too.
What wonderful eye candy! I really enjoyed your blog! I am a rug hooker who dyes wool also. I have always wanted to quilt, but I dare not start one more hobby~at this time anyway!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of watching these DVD's. I 'll have have to look around for some. Have an awesome week!
ReplyDeleteI woke up many a morning to Alex and her Simply Quilts when I started this journey. I so enjoyed that show and it is among one of my favorites.

Don't they do a wonderful job? I am a subscriber to the Quilt Show, but I have to say that I do miss Simply Quilts.
ReplyDeleteI got to hear Alex Anderson in a presentation at the quilt show in Paducah, Ky many years ago, got to meet her and she signed her book for me. I also taped just about all her shows and still watch them on tape. She has always been such an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...
